For those of you that haven’t already figured it out, the name Curlew is borrowed from
the county bird of Västerbotten county in the north of Sweden, where all the members
of the band grew up.
Curlew is Sanna, Jonathan, David, Stina and Ludwig. All of us have played in other
groups before we started Curlew and we often work on solo projects on the side.
We’ve been playing together since 2006.
Some people have said that Curlew sounds like a well balanced mix of all the best music
you can imagine. Which to us sounds like a tolerable description... REM, The Shins and
Smashing Pumpkins can be found among the comparisons. The music is diverse since
the band has several song writers and the instruments and microphone are passed
around among the members. Let us try to merge rock/pop/soul/country and emo
with
a big beating heart. And maybe that’s Curlew? You tell us! Go listen.
